The comments that have been made today from my colleagues...
simple yet effective abstract- idea map is busy
can have great details in final design. How do different materials come together?
explore material through texture?
The idea map is strong, and the materials give a different feeling with the big contrast, but is there a way to provoke the feeling of change of materials through your image abstract- so the 'viewer/reader' knows you aren't going to make a proposal of a candy bag of materials (maybe less materials with strong contrasts)
Recommended precedents:
look into historical architecture, they often used what was available
Thesis or argument?
using contrasting materials to evoke a certain emotion or make the person aware of their surroundings
Recommended Resources:
start looking at materials specific to location- will this effect your outcome?
