an updated thesis statement...

Architecture is created through the use of materials that define distinct boundaries and edges between the public and private realms of the built environment.  Materials are substance; a substance that creates isolation, an isolation that is too extreme to reflect today's society.  Our society is not clearly defined and therefore should not be contained within an architecture that separates the realms of life.  Society is continuously adapting to change just as technology has been evolving and multiplying the use of materials through transformation.  This indefinable nature occurs in many situations, so through the application of immaterials, the absence of substance/matter, architecture can portray ambiguous thresholds that will require more effort and discovery from more than just the eyes.  Thus engaging society with an architecture that balances the immaterial and material to create an experience through spaces where boundaries of and within architecture are questioned.
