a city in transition...

Site | Worcester, MA
Documentation and Analysis

A historical map of Worcester representing the hills that surround downtown.

A typical google map showing the many routes of Worcester and how they all eventually lead to downtown.  There are highways, 2 main railroad systems, and major roads with their intermediate streets.

This is the future of downtown, city square, of Worcester.  This is my site, which I plan to master plan myself and choose an area that will better suit my program.  The existing city square has an abandoned mall and parking garage that have created a very strong edge condition to the east side of Worcester.

Existing conditions of the site where one can see the highway to the far right, route 290, along with the train tracks running from the east to the bottom left of the image.  There is a main road wrapping the edge of the parking garage that leads to main street.  The Worcester commons is on the west side of the site with the Worcester City Hall as the far left edge of the commons.  Worcester was a main industrial/manufacturing area that has recently been abandoned and is in transition to become something better.
